One of the biggest hits with teens and tweens in recent years has to be High School Musical. It's no wonder then that many kids want to decorate their rooms in a High School Musical theme. Depending on your child's age, you may want to allow her to make many of the decisions on decorating herself. Regardless of your own level of personal involvement in the project, the following guidelines are sure to be helpful.
WALL DECORATION
It's probably best to start with the walls. First thing you'll need to decide is whether to use paint, wallpaper, or wall stickers. All have their merits, as well as their problems.
Painting is probably best left to an adult. Which means you or another adult will need to invest in the time and effort involved in painting a room. If you want to go ahead with it, colors like pink, hot pink, white, or any combination of these are best. Try to choose something that will have a long-term appeal, not just for the duration of a 'phase' in your child's life.
Wallpaper is a nice option you can consider as well. There are High-School Musical-themed wallpaper designs available, and once it's up and finished, it looks great. The problem is that wallpaper tends to be more of a permanent solution to what may just be a temporary fad, so use caution in this decision. Besides that, it can be a bit of a hassle to hang.
If you don't want to go to the trouble of painting or wallpapering, or if you are a renter and cannot make those decisions anyway, don't worry. You can opt for wall stickers or decals to spice up your kid's bedroom.
Wall stickers are removable and affordable. They can be repositioned or removed at any time, and do not leave a residue behind. There are really very few downsides to using them- about the only one is that they can possibly rip if you or your child aren't careful. For this reason, care should be taken to never use them where young children can have access to them, to avoid the possibility of choking on small pieces.
You can also use posters. Kids love posters, and especially when framed they can be real works of art that will help to set off a room's atmosphere.
FURNITURE
When choosing bedroom furniture for your child, always look for durable, well-built pieces that are made to withstand plenty of use and abuse. If you can't find furniture specifically with the High School Musical theme (or if you don't want to), at least try for pieces that match the color schemes.
Important too are considering your child's height and age when buying
