Poetry: Heartbreak

by Albert Chu

Created on: June 01, 2008

Once I had a crying match with the world,
For I awoke to a dark and dreary storm.
My heart was sore from the night before,
And in my losses did I mourn.

I walked outside to feel the rain
But I wasn't much impressed.
"This is all the world can muster?"
And I knew I could stand up to the test.

So there I stayed and there I cried.
I let my tears out like a flood.
The world did not back down, however;
And started to taste water mixed with blood.

Then suddenly, the rain ceased,
The clouds moved away.
But I was not satisfied
And decided I would stay.

So there I stayed and there I cried.
I cried as seasons passed.
Spring turned to summer and summer to fall,
Then came winter at last.

The world started to cry again with tears full of cold.
But I would not stop nor cease, to myself I told.
It was too late, however; in my sorrows I was wrapped.
For my tears were frozen to ice, and in my sadness I was trapped.
