To dismiss God as an invention of man's mind, is to give mans mind too much credit. Recently I read a inaccurate diatribe of misinformation, by a person who allegedly wrote a 350,000 word book. This article in itself was a feeble presumptuous bore. However witty and clever this author isn't, he makes it up with an example of Gods power. How would it be possible for a man to plug in a computer, navigate to Helium.com, manage to string together grammatically correct inaccuracies and still get ranked at number one, without the help of God? Miracles never cease.
As developed an intelligent as a mans mind is, it cannot begin to formulate the existence of God. It is the heart that breathes the contemplation of divinity. Billions of people, now and throughout history, have felt the authenticity of Gods love for us. Scientist, teachers, scholars, and laymen from all races makes and kinds have been touched by the vastness of our designer. His existence is in our children's smile, it is in our grandparents sage filled laugh, and in our partners words of encouragement.
The question of Gods existence and the invention of, is all relevant. If man has been blessed enough to grasp the essence of faith then that is his truth. Societies have fought and mortally defended their beliefs in God, others have fought because of lack there of. The Christian Crusades can be construed as horrifying by some, but so can the atrocities of their enemies. To fight for a way of life that preserves values, goodness, and morally sound traditions as opposed to a life of hate, gluttony and perversion, seems like a valid cause.
The Christian way of life is built on the principles that wickedness and treachery are sins, whereas righteousness and compassion are valued traits. Free will is our gift from God, we have been blessed with the capability to live splendidly. We can bide for a world where dictators fall, genocidal maniacs feel the consequences of justice, our loved ones are safe, and our neighbors are valued friends. Through God we can celebrate love, mourn dying, whether the fears indecision and never feel alone.
To ask if God is an invention of the mind, is to ask if hope exist, to ask if love is an invention, it is to ponder our worth. When faced with what seems like the final moment, there is an innate sense of divinity, even for the atheist. Moreover, for the believer, this sense is a comfort that subsist every day of their lives. God bless. Peace.
