This recipe comes from my mother. She's always creating new spins on old dishes. This one's just one of the best. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Ingredients:
2 pounds ground hamburger (turkey can be substituted)
medium white onion, finely diced
1 medium green pepper, finely diced
2 stalks celery, finely diced
1 tsp red cooking wine
1 tsp balsamic vinegar
tsp green Tabasco sauce
tsp minced garlic
1 cup dried bread crumbs
salt and pepper ( tsp each)
Directions: Preheat oven to 350F.
In large mixing bowl, combine thawed hamburger (or turkey), diced vegetables, and remaining ingredients. Add breadcrumbs until mixture holds together fairly well.
Grease 9x13" pan and form meatloaf mixture into rectangular shape. Bake for 45-50 minutes. Brush with mixture of cup ketchup and cup barbecue sauce, thinned with a little water if desired. Continue baking until internal temperature reaches 165F. Let rest 5-10 minutes and enjoy!
