Which Disney princess does your little princess want to be? Whichever one it is, you can transform her room into a land of fanciful imagination and make her favorite Disney princess a part of it. A few key elements will bring this look together so her fairytale can begin.

Each Disney princess has a defining color that will determine the overall color scheme of the room.

Walls Pink, blue, yellow, etc.

Paint the walls a powder-light shade of the princess's defining color. All walls should be painted this color. However, if you're skilled with a paintbrush, you might make one wall white and paint the castle of Cinderella or Belle, or perhaps Jasmine's palace on it. Paint the ceiling sky-blue and add a few wispy clouds (This isn't as hard as it may sound; many painting how-to books give instruction on how to achieve this look.) A nice touch around the perimeter of the room, at ceiling or chair-rail level, is to paint a favorite verse in italics you can even doll it up by painting a few buzzing bees and flowers.

Window ware

Paint all trim around the window/s white. For privacy, a shade is better than blinds or verticals. Shades are less modern. For curtains, stay with the color, and instead of powder-light, go with the full strength color. As for curtain style frilly is good. Dress it/them up with a valance and hang some streamers of ribbon in varied lengths with some extending beyond the length of the curtains.

Furniture selection

An appropriately sized bedroom set that includes: a bed with a head and footboard, a dresser and a vanity with a stool. All pieces should be white for a princess theme. Drawer pulls can be changed out to match the color of the theme. Keep in mind, the more ornate in style, the better especially with the vanity and stool. If a desk is needed, go with white as well, but you will want to add a kid-sized stand-alone mirror for her, and maybe a small clothes/hatstand for her to hang dress-up goodies on.

Princess accents

A lamp, clock, tea set, throw pillows and switch plates in Disney's princess motif, a big storybook of the story on a painted white shelf these are all items that will help to bring her favorite princess into the room. Bed coverings with ruffles will remind her of the princess's dress. A soft fuzzy rug in the color of the theme will cozy up the floor, and a white step stool next to her bed will make her feel like a princess climbing into bed.

Mirror, mirror on the wall

The future tells us that little girls will trade in their favorite princess dress for a pair of chic new jeans quicker than we would probably wish for. Depending on your budget, keep this in mind especially as you consider furniture purchases. Paint, textiles and room accents don't amount to a huge expense when compared to furniture. If you're looking to save money, second-hand stores and garage sales may be good places to start furniture shopping.
