When I'm 64 and I'm still doing cartwheels I will be happy as Larry! I think if you can still sing and enjoy it then go for it!

For those people who were born in the 60's (I'm a little younger than that!) will still think fondly of The Beatles and The Stones. They will still sing the classic songs they sang back in their heyday and still can belt them out.

Every time Billy Joel goes on tour he packs people into stadiums, and yet he has not made an album in years. Songs like Piano Man are beautiful songs and can always be played. As long as the person concerned still has the voice then why not? Tina Turner is doing yet another farewell tour and I would love to go and see her! Someone said to me that her voice can't be as good as it used to be. I guess there is only one way to find out.

I do love modern music, and I do love some boy and girl bands too, but I can't see them lasting 20 years plus. The music made in the 1960's and 1970's seemed to have more soul and more rhythm perhaps? Perhaps with synths today's music has become less real to the ear. My taste spans from jazz to stuff like Daft Punk - I have grown with the charts.

Something pulls me back to Paul or Billy's music. I still listen to The Beatles and love songs like Norwegian Wood. I have never been much of a Stones fan, but one song that I do love is Angie and how old is that? I believe that was written in the 70's.

How about I give another example.....Pink Floyd. They did a one off concert here awhile back and I knew a few people who would've loved to have gone if the tickets were not so expensive. Now there is another thing they can still charge lots of money for their tickets!

Nowadays people get shoved together and get told "You are a band now go and sing." They don't even know each other and son find out they don't even like each other. In previous decades it was all about people meeting other like minded people, and back then they all had a music skill. Now people don't even need to be able to sing that well and they can make a hit record.

I have also heard Meatloaf in concert is pretty poor, it was reported he can't sing any more. Also the lead singer of Dexie's midnight runner's voice is not what it used to be. If we listen to Paul McCartney's voice now he can still sing well. If the public still want to see these oldies live then why not?

Today we make musicals about Buddy Holly and he was a 50's musician. What does that say? Oh and how can I forget to mention Elvis. His music was re-released recently and I am pretty sure most if not all hit the No.1 spot in the pop charts.

In every decade there are a few really good bands or solo artists that produce something special. Perhaps we can say bands like Oasis or The Kaiser Chiefs will become timeless. The lyrics are well written; the lead singer has that special something, and the tune is just right for the era.

I am sure The Stones; Billy Joel; The Beatles and Tina Turner's will be heard for awhile yet. The songs are well written it brings back so many memories! So come on Tina give it your all belt out those tunes - I want to see you for your "farewell tour!"
