When my neighbor moved into her house across the street, a few of us did for her what they did for me years earlier.
I decorated a fairly large cardboard box (to be used later for trash). Inside, we placed dishwasher detergent, close detergent, body soap, sponges, paper towels, toilet tissue, a small outdoor plant and a gift card for dinner to a local restaurant.
Moving into a new home, while exciting, takes its toll and the first day is always mind-boggling.
Our little gift provided them the necessary tools for quick clean-ups, a plant that can grow with each year they spend in their home and a dinner so they wouldn't have to scrounge around their new home looking for something to eat.
Our little gift is also a great way to welcome a new family into our circle of friends.
