My husband despises the sun waking him up every morning. And he says that I'm crabby. But that's what will happen to you in Scottsdale Arizona. Not the crabby part, but the promise of another beautiful day, filled with everything to do under the sun. This beautiful city created in the Sonoran Desert, is filled with sunshine 330 days a year. To enjoy the promise of a day that gets hotter with a soothing relief- laden cooler nights ahead, then you will love visiting Scottsdale with nearly perfect weather every day of the year.

BEAT THE HEAT

It's best to get up early here in Scottsdale Arizona to enjoy the plethora of activities, before the heat of the day begins. Later on, eat a great Southwestern dinner, and take a stroll amongst the beauty and splendor of everything Scottsdale, in the cooler evening air. You will want to take home many treasures of wonderful art with you, because Scottsdale is an art Mecca. Besides, nighttime is when things really start heating up in Scottsdale, when the night air is filled with music of almost every kind from rock to jazz.

WINTER

The winter weather in Scottsdale is absolutely gorgeous. Who wouldn't want to wake up to sunshine and be able to go golfing in January and February? There are freezing temperatures here, but that rarely happens. The sun warms everything up, so you can go for a hike in the desert. This is an area to get away from the nasty blizzard-like conditions that frequent other areas of the U. S. during the winter. The average January high temperature is 66 degrees, with the average low being 41 degrees.

SPRING

You could say that Scottsdale enjoys four seasons. With area temperatures being warm in the winter, warmer to hot in the spring, really hot in the summer and hot to warm in the fall. If that's what you call four seasons, then I'm all for it! Springtime begins early here in the Southwest as March starts getting warmer with temperatures in the 70's and sometimes the eighties. This is optimum golfing, and art exhibition weather!

SUMMER

The reason many events are held during the spring and the fall here in Scottsdale is because the summers are very hot. During the end of May, June, July, August and even in the beginning of September temperatures soar into the 100 degree mark. It is very common for the daytime highs to reach 110 degrees. This is when meteorologists actually warn people about getting sunstroke.

During the summer in Scottsdale, is when monsoon-like thunderstorms can happen. They occur in bursts and breaks from July until September that usually only last about 30 minutes. Scottsdale also experiences dust storms, especially in the summer due to the dry conditions and winds that occur whipping sand and dust around.

FALL

In late September and early October is when the hot summer temperatures start cooling off. Temperatures fall to the 90's in September, and in October they will fall to the eighties. November and December see temperatures in the 60's and 70's. This is when people come outside and enjoy the area. Hiking, bicycling, horseback riding, and golfing are all abundant activities at this time. Fall festivals of hot-air ballooning, art, music, and vintage car shows entertain the area during the fall season.

The best time to visit the Scottsdale area is during the cooler months in the spring and the fall. This is a wonderful time to enjoy all the activities and sports the area has to offer. For adventurous hot weather lovers, to enjoy summer in Scottsdale get out early, wear sunscreen, and drink plenty of fluids.
