Primetime 2008 fall lineup: Assessing Fox's up and coming shows

by Tim Morrison

Created on: May 31, 2008   Last Updated: June 01, 2008

Fox is rolling out a slew of new television for the fall Primetime season that is beginning in September. Being that Fox is home to the steamrolling American Idol that totally dominates the spring season, the fall which has enerally been owned by ABC and CBS looks to be weakening in the face of what a lot of people still call an upstart network.

Let's have a look at Fox's TV for 2008 and 2009 and what's new.

Sunday:
No change to the lineup here, all the cartoons we've watched and enjoyed for more than 20 years are still here. Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad and King Of The Hill all return for yet another successful comedy run.

Monday:
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is returning for a much anticipated second season. This breakway series proved that the movie franchise can survive without Arnie. It still needs to prove itself against much longer running series, but TTSCC has shown it has legs to keep running.
Prison Break comes back for another adventure-filled season as well. This series has surprised critics as to the longevity of a series focusing on people on the run from the law. It's ratings tend to fluctuate but overal, PB has coped well against the other networks. Time will tell for this new season.

Tuesday:
House returns for another dramatic season. I don't watch the show so can't offer any opinion other than it's one of Fox's most successful series so it's a no brainer that they keep funding it so it can continue to pull high ratings.
Fringe is a new series Fox is unleashing upon the world this September. From the creative minds of JJ Abrams, Roberto Orci and Alex Kutzman, who have helmed series such as Lost and Alias. Fringe focuses on blurring the line between science fiction and reality. The previews look good and if it survives, this series may well become another landslive victory for Fox.

Wednesday:
Bones is set for a Wednesday comeback in Fall. This series steadily keeps it's audience from season to season and it is hoped that it will continue it's strong following and keep pulling the numbers.
Til Death returns with Brat Garret and Joely Fisher continuing to show the ups and downs of marriage from very different perspectives.
Do Not Disturb is a new comedy series premiering in Fall. Focussing on the staff that runs a top notch hotel in New York called appropriately, then Inn. This is the In place to be, and the staff do their best to keep up the appearances while behind the scened, much dramedy and activity occurs between the very different people
