Time Management Strategies for the Infopreneur
Infopreneur; a customized title derived from the dialect entrepreneur - The Infopreneur is the individual that bases their career on knowledge rather than tangible products; this could be a consultant, writer, educator or any person basing their career on providing information that is of value to others.
To begin with, the time management clich is really about self-management; in that one organizes their time in managing themselves, their routines and their overall way of doing things.
The value of the information you provide is based on your customer's perception of value rather than your own; if you produce information that others don't perceive as valuable then your efforts are in vain you won't be able to profit from your efforts.
Truly successful infopreneurs must maximize their ability to be productive; in essence, this means these individuals must take care of themselves. Becoming stagnated is a common hindrance to many infopreneurs.
Getting ample amounts of rest and exercise can greatly improve productivity. It's important to dedicate one's self to being healthy; eating "productive foods" that provide energy naturally rather than synthetically. Coffee, sugar, and other non-healthy foods contribute to non-productive behavior; these foods essentially result in instant gratification in that they energize quickly. The downfall is that their results end abruptly as apposed to having a lasting effect.
Exercise generates energy naturally; starting your day with exercise that increases the heart rate sets the stage for the rest of the day. You don't have to be a body builder or work-out enthusiast to benefit from the results of this healthy routine.
I begin my day with a healthy breakfast followed by ten minutes of stretching exercises and a one mile walk with my dog; when I return home I dedicate ten minutes to spiritual devotions. People who don't pray may choose to unwind through meditation or other forms of relaxation. This act alone prepares me for the day ahead.
Moving on to strategies that generate results... There are a few things that Infopreneurs should avoid.
Distractions; when we allow ourselves to become distracted by stopping what we're working on to check e-mail, speak to someone, or take a phone call, statistics reveal that it takes an estimated twenty minutes to get back to what we were originally working on. Infopreneurs should schedule dedicated time to each task
