If one thinks about songs the song Luka by Suzanna Vega tells a very sad story about a child that is being abused. I would like to insert the whole song into my article as it is very well written and hits the nail on the head as to what abuse is all about. So here it is:
Luka by Suzanna Vega Lyrics:
"My name is luka
I live on the second floor
I live upstairs from you
Yes I think youve seen me before
If you hear something late at night
Some kind of trouble. some kind of fight
Just dont ask me what it was
Just dont ask me what it was
Just dont ask me what it was
I think its because Im clumsy
I try not to talk too loud
Maybe its because Im crazy
I try not to act too proud
They only hit until you cry
And after that you dont ask why
You just dont argue anymore
You just dont argue anymore
You just dont argue anymore
Yes I think Im okay
I walked into the door again
Well, if you ask thats what Ill say
And its not your business anyway
I guess Id like to be alone
With nothing broken, nothing thrown
Just dont ask me how I am
Just dont ask me how I am
Just dont ask me how I am"
This shows an extreme form of abuse where the child is getting abused for apparently no reason, but isn't this in most cases. Parents comes home drunk etc. and will beat the child over nothing?
Child abuse comes in two forms mental and physical. Both affect society - possibly the mental more so. Both forms of abuse are equally debilitating and at the time the child will probably be affected just as badly if they were being hit or if they were being sworn at.
The child will the grow up having a lot more negativity in their lives than a lot of people in this world. The way it will affect them in the long term is that they will become very insecure. Insecurity in itself can affect whomever they are in contact with too.
Once these children become adults they will hide their insecurity by being aggressive or rude. They will also argue with another person either until they win or the other gives in. Child abuse affects society because some of these children will grow up possibly being abusers themselves.
My boyfriend who is a friendly guy (I know I am biased but It is true!) told me he waved at a child the other day. The mother glared at him. Society has shown us what paedophilia can do and in recent years the horror stories one hears of children being snatched or locked away. Mothers are worried for their child's safety to such an extent, even someone someone harmless as my bloke will still be seen as a threat. Naturally this is how
