Little Johnny
A little Johnny sits alone, looking out the window
His father drinks, his mother cries
He wishes affection someone would show
As time moves on, the little boy tries to shut out the cries at any cost
He grows up watching drunken disgrace, a slap to the face
His spirit slowly lost
When the boy became a man he was used to being mis-understood
He wanted to call for help
He knew a way that he could
One sip of the flask
One burn of the fiery liquid down his throat
Brought him a sense of release
From then on...
Whenever he felt out of control, or full of pain
He would find himself using the bottle to hide the shame
Until one day, Johnny met Sammy...
They fell in love
He thought that finally, his world had changed for good
Because of his pain she understood
Years swept by..... Johnny and Sammy still struggled on.
He just could not beat the demon's of his past
He could not do it on his own
One night, while Johnny was holding Sammy by his side...
A broken man asks of his bride....
" Honey, I need help.... I want to change... what do I do"?
She replied: "Let God have it, he will listen, because he cares for you"
Let God have all of you, all you are and all you experience and all you feel"
He looked at her, with desperate eye's. He said " I don't know if I can. I have so many painful layers to peel"
She said " Give God your joy, your fears, your love, and your pain."
He said "I guess, of my drinking, I must now, refrain"
Yes, she said. "Get close to him, stay close to him, and give him all you are"
"I am ready, he smiled, I have already come so far"
Johnny sighed with blessed relief. He said "Now, I understand"
"I need to remove my pain and burdens, and place them with God, and let him take my hand"
Yes! She said. "I love you Johnny, you have been my husband, and my best friend
But, as soon as you accepted God in your life... you became a man"
