By His Hand He Took His Life
It was just another day in his life that nothing went right, he didn't feel good, had no wish to leave his home. I stopped by to say hello, asked if he needed anything at the store. He gave me a list of things and away I went to shop for the same things he'd been eating for the last two month. The list was, bananas, oatmeal, and some ensure. Not very interesting but that's what he'd been eating for the last months. So I take them over to him, he ask if I could stay awhile, I said alright. Two days later he was gone by his own hand.
I stayed for some time, we talked , or I should say he talked I listened. He was down on himself as usual. I suggested we take a ride, where he asked, I said it didn't matter at least you'd be out of the house for awhile. No, he didn't feel like going anywhere so we stayed in and he talked. He went around the house complaining that he had to take medicine that he didn't want, so I said, don't. I'm the type of person that if you keep on complaining, nagging, and just going on and on about something, I just get upset and say okey, don't do what it is that you don't want to. He looked at me and said now your mad right, I said no I'm not mad, I just don't think you understand how medicine worked, the doctor gave you medicine to help you with your depression and your choosing not to take it. I hope you understand that if you don't take it your not going to get out of this situation where your so down on everything around you. The doctor want as I do for you to get better, your not wanting to take the medicine shows me your not willing to get better. He becomes angry and says, you know I hate taking pills, I don't want to become another pill popper like so many others. I said in return that's not the case, your pills are important to your way of life. We went on and on for so long that now I was upset that I said I had to leave and did.
He called me that evening and asked if I was still mad at him,I said I was not mad just upset that he didn't want to get better.
We talked for some time that evening and at least he seemed somewhat happy and before hanging up he said, I'll take the pills hon. Yes we loved one another, I think I loved him more . I was always unsure of how he felt because he was like a yoyo, up one minute down the next. He was a very caring, gentle man who would give you his last slice of bread if need be. He was the type of man to do for others and never want to accept from someone else.
