The US elections, this year, are one of the consuming thoughts on American minds everywhere. In order to write intelligently on this subject, I will avoid tacking on my opinions and center only on the facts. The presiding president Bush will have served two presidential terms by the year 2009. Despite matters of the demanded 'recount' in the Bush vs. Gore race, the United States majority obviously saw him as the best presidential candidate in the 2000 and 2004 elections. However after the events of 9/11 and the following War in Iraq the opinions of the 'funny' president have turned to rotten. This is even obvious in how George W. tells his pick for the presidency -John McCain- that Bush will be for McCain if John wants him to or Bush will say he is against McCain if that is what the senator would prefer. Bush himself knows that the people's opinion of him can hinder his candidate hopeful.
Bush's support for McCain can most definitely hurt Senator McCain's campaign. McCain has been said to have not allowed press into an event where Bush would be attending. McCain will play it safe. Bush lovers will vote for McCain, especially since his stand on the war is the same as the current President's.
It must be noted that Bush's views on the major issues could not be further opposite the two democrat candidates Hillary and Barack. Bush will hurt the campaigns of these two candidates, although it may not appear that way. Bush fans will push the 'peace promoting' Obama far from votes, and Clinton also. The war opinions are just one example of every idea that is counter-Bush of these two democratic candidates. Hence, democrats, gays, and pro-choice voters who despise the entire Bush presidency will be eager to vote in such liberal and anti-war candidates.
In reality, maybe a better question would be, "Should the current President of the United States have any ground breaking affect on the upcoming election period?" America will destroy itself their focus is too much on the past presidency, or on the past elected person, and not enough on analyzing the current candidates. America, instead of considering what has already occurred, should stop looking to the past and allow them to concentrate solely on the selecting right person for the 2008 elections. This has also been one of the most disgusting campaigns when it comes to attacking the current president' especially on the democratic side. Hillary and Barack have countless times begun a response or statement regarding some insult to the current President. This is not tactful and entices people to instead of spending their time considering the elect ability of the current candidates, on an American pity party of the last eight years. Anyone who knows anything about life knows that a person, or for this matter, a country, can go no where by focusing on the past, but only on looking toward the future. Ultimately, if the real goal in selecting a president is to pick the best person for the job, then focusing on George W. Bush will hinder the election of every 2008 candidate.
