Unconditional Love
Sitting next to him in his recliner chair
The world was still
and I hadn't a care.
Right the world was grandpa's house
and no one loved that world as much as I.
I got in trouble at home
and the solution was easy.
Go to grandpa's and get treats.
He would simply ask if I was in trouble.
And told me to enjoy the baked apple pie
grandma made.
To him, I didn't cause trouble
and if I did he sure didn't see it.
I had a place to go no matter what
I had done wrong.
Grandpa's house, the safe place.
Grandpa's love was so unconditional
he simply didn't see flaws and if he did
he never told me.
A love so true, expressed in so many ways.
I will never forget Grandpa's love.
