The High School Musical trilogy is complete but the craze is still with us, so how do we take the kids obsession and turn it into something creative for both them and you? Decorate their bedroom in a High School Musical theme - that's how. The best way to achieve a room Gabriella would be jealous of is to think Wildcat colors: that's red, white and gold! What time is it? Time to get the creative juices flowing...
Walls should be kept simple with matte red paint and a red and white border in the center of the wall or, if you prefer traditional wallpaper, it should also be red and white, preferably in vertical stripes; a border should also be used with wallpaper. You can decorate the border with stickers or cuttings of Troy, Sharpay and the rest of the High School Musical gang to add a hint of color and HSM magic. An East High pennant and a few posters will complete the walls. Curtains, lampshade and table light should also follow the red and white theme, again keep them simple and bold.
Furniture, such as drawers and dressing table should be white with red handles and a red outer frame, try adding HSM characters names on the front of drawers or a gold East High monogram on either side of the handles.
To make the bedroom door or wardrobe look like Sharpay's locker paint it white and add a giant gold star in the center, paint five small black 'vent' lines above the star and, finally, add a 'handle' to complete the feel of a locker.
For the dressing table think diva star style! Place pink or white lights around the mirror and cram it full of perfume, make-up and jewelry like Sharpay's dressing room in High School Musical 2. You can buy HSM perfume, lip gloss, eyeshadow, hair accessories and loads of jewelery including necklaces, bracelets, earrings, etc. Some stores even sell Gabriella and Sharpay wigs which would fit perfectly in your HSM room so you can be your favorite character whenever you want!
There are many High School Musical duvets and throws available to buy; also try scattering your bed with red, white and gold cushions during the day, add a few HSM badges to the cushions but make sure that you remove cushions from the bed before going to sleep.
The floor should be wooden with games hall markings to give the idea of a basketball court, add a small basketball net on the wall and design your own scoreboard, just make sure The Wildcats are winning! Complete the games hall look with a basketball shaped rug. Place a giant hamper, ottoman or toy tidy in the corner to put all your HSM goodies in, this will look like the bench at the basketball game.
Make sure you have a shelf complete with basketball just like Chad and Troy and framed photograph of your family and friends. Add a few pegs behind your door and hang a basketball jacket and a few colorful hats like Ryan.
Have a red and white East High cheerleader outfit hanging at the front of your wardrobe and a pair of red and white pompoms on your bedside table. Practice your cheer routines along to your favorite High School Musical Cd's. Have a karaoke machine in your room, so that you can rock out with your friends, remember that Troy and Gabriella met when they first sang karaoke together!
Finally you'll need some pink sparkly items Sharpay style, since no High School Musical room would be complete without them! Try fluffy photo frames, mini lights, trinket boxes, a jewelery box and a bright pink telephone. Add a sparkly feather boa to complete the look. Fabulous!
