The crucial years in a child's behavioral development

events. Morality is interpreted through the lens that is already created in the child through his childhood and his social values. An example of morality would be a issue such as political ideologies, economic ideologies etc. Acquiring morality is not a structured learning process. It is a matter of the environment, interactions with responsible adults and passing on of certain implicit codes of behavior with respect to various issues. It is a sense of right and wrong, as interpreted through the person's lens. Morality has a key role to play in group dynamics. It dictates how the person will align himself in group situations.

7. Interdependence: This is perhaps the last milestone in social development. While the baby starts off being very dependent on the mother at birth, over the course of the subsequent years he acquires an impressive repertoire of knowledge, information and social skills to become independent. While he needs independence to follow his destiny, he cannot function independently without also acquiring interdependence. He comes back a full circle and learns to strike a healthy balance between being isolated and being parasitic. Happiness and opportunity lies in the ability to find this balance. Those who have successfully scaled the preceding milestones of social development find this balance more easily.

Thus these are the seven recognizable milestones of social development. The first five milestones are seen clearly in children. What the child walks away with during these five milestones will shape the way the subsequent two milestones are scaled.
