I have traveled all throughout the United States, been in at least 40 states so far. I can tell you from experience that traveling will change who you are and may even change your perspective on certain things.
I started traveling when I was eighteen years old. At the beginning I was searching for the right place to live in. You see the town I grew up in just wasn't for me. I wanted more out of life then a bar on every corner and pretty much nothing else.
I was on the road searching for a few years when I came to a place in North Carolina that was perfect for me, but by then the road was in my blood. I experienced so much that I did not want the ride to end. So I just kept driving. Along the way I met the best people in the world who would do anything for you even though you were a stranger to them. I also met people who if I never saw again that would definitely be alright with me. I tasted food so delicious just thinking about it today makes my mouth water. I have also tasted food that should be in a dumpster somewhere condemned with caution tape around it. I have experienced things that some of you never will. Some bad and some great things. If you never go anywhere you will never know whats out there.
Everyone should travel at least once in their lives. You do not have to go far either. Sometimes I would be in one place and when I went to the next town it would only be an hour or so away. There are no two places on earth that are the same. Every place has something wonderful to offer; you just have to find it. It took a few years before I realized even my hometown has something to offer that no other place had. In my town there is the worlds smallest chapel. It is tall enough for people to go inside, just not too many people can be in there at once.
In just one state alone I met people who still ride in horse and buggies in one town and I met people who cannot survive without their cellphone on their hips or without a computer in front of them.
Traveling expands your horizons and most of the time changes how you view people. If you just stay in one place then you will only ever know whats in that town and nothing else. But if you just take a little adventure, whether it is twenty minutes away or days away from your town, you will experience things that you never knew were even possible.
When you travel though make sure you are prepared. You do not want to be stranded in the middle of the night on a dirt road with a flat tire and no spare or cell phone signal. Always have a map even though it is funner to just choose which roads to travel on the spur of the moment feeling.
Why travel? Because if you never do then you will never know what life really has to offer.
