Sick of celebrities: Will there be a backlash against the beautiful people?

"God help you if you are an ugly girl
course too pretty is also your doom
cause everyone harbors a secret hatred
for the prettiest girl in the room
and god help you if you are a phoenix
and you dare to rise up from the ash
a thousand eyes will smolder with jealousy
while you are just flying back"
-Ani DiFranco

There will always be a backlash against "the beautiful people," just like there will always be a backlash against anyone who is exceptionally gifted in any area of their lives.

Backlash always stems from one of the seven deadly sins: envy.

Celebrities as a whole will always receive negative feedback from outside sources. They are, whether they choose to believe so or not, a representative of what the majority of the population of the world can never hope to be.

I am not referring to the reality TV celebrities; I am referring to people that are so talented, charismatic and beautiful, they had little choice but to become famous.

Many celebrities are stars that shine much brighter than your typical blue-collar biped. They have a soul that illuminates a room the minute they walk into it, a smile that is infectious the moment you see it, and a personality that you can't help but like the second you are exposed to it. Quite often, they also have a face that has the ability to make you weak in the knees despite yourself.

That is what the true meaning of the "beautiful celebrity" is all about. Back in the hey-day of Marilyn Monroe, Veronica Lake, or even The Rat Pack; celebrities would cast a spell on you that made you fall for them and made you theirs forever. It was physical, it was chemical, it was showbiz.

There is nothing wrong with celebrities being the "beautiful people." Beautiful people usually have no choice but to utilize their beauty while it's still there, so I say let them have at it. It isn't a secret that most beautiful people you will meet in life have the personality rivaling the creamy nougat center of a candy bar; it looks pretty appetizing, but you can only stomach so much of it before it makes you sick.

Everyone has their own purpose. If pretty people are only here to be pretty, let them do it. Someone has to.

Hating or being jealous of what you do not have is a complete waste of time. All anyone ever needs to do is to count their blessings and be grateful for everything they have, not nitpick over every little thing they don't.
