The decline of eBay

Projected by Ebay the upcoming decline in the year 2008 measures far more than just the lack of consumer transaction. The financial department during 2007 stated that it should be a busy year yet reducing the sales, marketing development and administrative expenses. Ebay has survived through the changes of never ending tax brackets, the weakening of the U. S. dollar bill connected with foreign currencies and other related issues that may count as an obstacle to a business online.

Stub Hub has a fixed-price format on eBay. Payments are generated through PayPal. Communications are conducted through Skype which offers a good package with benefits if the business reaches a certain percentage or higher in operations. Ebay survived the fees and financial back-up of such plus many other obstacles through time yet now they have to face challenges in their three largest markets, the U. S., U. K. and Germany where Ebay business has slowed down. Ebay plans to offer changes to the fee structure, seller incentives and feedback option.

Another reason that Ebay knows the year 2008 will decline is due to e-commerce growth and how it is projected to take a setback. Knowing this, Ebay does plan on dabbling with the common stock repurchase which may help them remain afloat with a decent take in financially for 2008 and upcoming years. Either way, Ebay is noted for stating that they are aware of the upcoming decline in sales, customers and financial sectors.

Competitors, such as Craigslist.com and other buy/sell websites, has subtracted the financial and consumer rating of Ebay. The public now knows that they can own their own site and run it as a business even if it is the biggest yard sale online where profit reflects the worth. As long as another business goes online, the competitive chain begins which can lead to dire consequences to those who can not remain in business online.

Consumers come and consumers go yet for Ebay, one has to take in consideration that there is always time for a come back and from what reports do state should Ebay take a dip in the year 2008 is that it will be short lived since the pencil had touched the drawling board. Ebay does have one of the better business brackets for anyone in their trade. I, too, agree that Ebay will be around for a very long time as long as they manage their stock options well and preparation planning as they have.

Usually when a company or product has reached their peek of consumer interest, it can take a decline as the after thought lingers. Ebay has been amazing in the past recent years yet at this moment, the luster is losing its shine as Ebay is appearing worn to those who lost interest in Ebay. With gas and the price hikes, potential upcoming Ebay users may not choose to use a buy/sell since the funds just are not there to take care of any additional costs when trying to get rid of products and such. It is much less expensive to simply have a garage or yard sale. As the economy is struggling more so than before, it is in Ebays' forecast to see stormy weather in the future as they may lose much online traffic due to such a financial strain off-line. Unfortunately, this may also contribute to the decline of Ebay.
