Poetry: Friendship vs. love

Get up and breathe in the dreamy scent of rain, open your mouth and catch the soft raindrops on your tongue, savor it. Pay mind to your heartbeat, fluttering in your breast, like a butterfly emerging out of its cocoon, testing out its new-born wings. Open your eyes and glimpse the beauty of the day, the glow of the daisies just bloomed. Reach out your fingers, clasp my fingers with yours, intertwining, a symbol that we will always be joined by the soul, in love forever.

No, not so much as romantic love, but let's be in love as friends, forever. Let us never let fate wrench our hands apart, break the friends forever vow, shatter the hearts of us both. Love between two meant-to-be's is sacred, yet in a different way than the sacred love between two friends. I look for that endless chain that may bind us together in love as friends.

I care not about the love that connects us in wedlock, the love that causes grief
but the love that stays innocent and yet always reminds us of the other soulmate, no matter the distance.

Let's be friends, m'dear.
