Getting to and around Sunriver, Oregon

Sunriver, Oregon, where there is a sun...and a river...and well its in Oregon! Thats what you might be thinking anyways, but there is a lot more to this pretty, little community than that. Let's start somewhere more familiar: Bend, Oregon. Just fifteen miles away one could easily fly into the large airport in Bend and make use of one of the shuttle services perhaps the "Central Oregon Airport Shuttle", a Greyhound bus or just rent your own car and begin to experience the temperate climate and beautiful scenery of Oregon. If you are so fortunate as to have a private jet, you could fly directly into Sunriver via their private airport which is open to the public. Sunriver boasts a variety of short-term living accommodations from the simple bed and breakfast to the luxurious vacation rental home. While in Sunriver, there are a whole host of activities you could partake in if the rest, relaxation and scenery aren't enough! Sunriver features the "High Desert Museum" home to America's only spotted owls to be bred in captivity as of yet. The museum is also home to exhibits showing ancient healing powers of plants and historical explorations of Oregon's past. In addition to this opportunity, Sunriver holds one exceptional festival in particular, the Sunriver music festival which is on its twenty-fourth season and runs every August. Sunriver is also within a mere twenty miles of the Mt. Bachelor ski area, if that is your fancy, with beautiful scenery and perfect ski weather in the winter. At 42-83 degrees Farenheit in July and the summer months and 20-39 degrees Farenheit during the winter months, Sunriver offers a wide variety of conditions for a variety of activities year round. During the summer time, Mt. Bachelor is also very popular for hikers, another common activity for Sunriver enthusiasts. In addition to these, Sunriver has facilities and the environment for horseback riding, whitewater rafting, kayaking, canoeing and hiking or camping in the surrounding Deschutes National Forest. Cycling, Fishing, golf, ice skating, the raqcuet club or swimming- Sunriver is never a dull vacation spot but yet holds the quiet community atmosphere perfect for some 'r' and 'r' at the times one needs it most! Not only close to Bend, Sunriver is in the vicinity of Portland, Eugene and Medford- all easily within a four hour drive. Sunriver: more than what you thought!
