To all those that think that gay marriage should be banned,I think you should reconsider what not allowing gays to live and marry like anybody else would do to them. If we can't even allow our gay citizen the basic rights awarded in the Constitution then there's definitely something wrong with all of us to deny the right to happiness. The overturn of the ban in California is a big step for the gay community and I'm quite happy for them myself. If as a country we exercise tolerance for other people's way of life then it would reflect to others that we are accepting and diplomatic about topics such as this that stir controversy in other nations. I don't believe that we're losing out grip on our nation just because a law has been passed legalizing gay marriage in this state sets an example for other states. There are some positives and negatives to passing the new law , but mostly it's positive because once people start getting married to will generate revenue for the state of California in the marriage business, create a general sense of pride in the community and a feeling of being safe and accepted, make people more tolerant of gays and the fact that they have the right to pursue their happiness with the one they love and that it isn't morally wrong it is just a way of life and it shouldn't be something that we shun as a society. If this is one big step for them then it should also be one big step for us toward marriage equality and the overall tolerance of GLBT community and we'll eventually learn that having a distrust in something that we don't understand doesn't make it bad or wrong. if anyone is wrong it's us. I can't wait to see the change that will soon take place all over. It's a new generation of people with different opinions about the world around them and every other year become more open minded as the people become more educated and experience firsthand the feeling of intolerance. Hopefully today's youth will understand this issue as it becomes increasingly prevalent in the media and our lives that legalizing something beneficial to people who have been waiting for the day it would happen is also beneficial to us as well. By the number of people who agree that this major decision of our state government was a good choice and they fully support the idea of gays getting married and having equal right in the process. This is what we should see more of elsewhere. Just because we give equality in marriage to gay people doesn't mean we're losing our grip on what's happening here. majority rules and that majority wants change.
