Essays: Invisibility vs. flying

Perhaps one the best questions ever "if I had the choice would I rather have the power of invisibility or the power to fly. I consider myself to be a normal person with a normal education level. I still find that I ask myself this question out of the blue. It is as if I want to be prepared in case out of the blue a stranger grants me one of these superhuman abilities. After many hours of thinking this is my answer. The best choice depends on how fast I can go.

If I can travel at any speed I want flying is definitely the best way to go. I could spend all day floating above the earth as high as I wanted maybe taking a nap or just staring down at the wonder of Mother Nature. I might even open my own delivery service charging outrageous rates for delivery at the speed of light. Even if I didn't open my own business at least I could wake up later and not have to buy gas on my way to work The part of having the gift of flight for me would have to be the ability to meet new people and experience new cultures I could go anywhere in the world and meet anybody I wanted to. A typical day for me would probably end up with me eating breakfast in France, fishing the trout streams in Georgia, laying out on the beach in the Bahamas, maybe grabbing some Chinese food in China, then clubbing all night in Miami. From the stand point of being able to help my fellow humans this superpower would probably not help out to many people.

Invisibility would probably be the better alternative if I could only fly at the same speed that I run. With invisibility I could travel anyplace undetected. The best reason for invisibility to me is being able to see how people act when no one is around. The best way to understand how ethical a person is is to see how they act at when alone. Do people litter more when they are by themselves? Now I can find out the answer. As far as being able to travel where I want I would still be able to hop a plane whenever I want and not have to pay a ticket. There would be no reason for going to a hotel cause I could sleep on a persons couch without them even knowing about it. As far as helping out other people I could go into a police stand off and disarm a suspect. I could be the ultimate spy/international man of mystery.

If I ever end up meeting that stranger who can grant me a superpower actually I think the question is irrelevant as long as I get a superpower. In case I do get a choice though I think I am going to go with invisibility.
