I myself have a MacBook, and it seems pretty good to me. Ranging from 1200 dollars to 1700 or so, the MacBook is a nice, affordable Laptop with great software such as Mac OSX Leopard (version 10.5).
There are pros and indefinitely cons the MacBook.
Pros:
The MacBook, is sleek, pretty, and fits nicely in your lap, and has up to 250 GB of Storage!
I quote from the Apple Website:
"Inside the new MacBook is the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processor based on 45nm-process technology and advanced Core microarchitecture. This powerful technology lets Intel create hundreds of millions of microscopic 45-nanometer transistors. And the advancements keep advancing with 3MB of shared L2 cache and a newly enhanced SSE4 vector engine. Translation: you get a MacBook with snappier performance that runs applications faster and more efficiently than ever before.
The new MacBook runs applications up to 58% faster than the previous generation."
iPhoto runs 58% faster than the previous generation, and iTunes runs faster than ever, especially the updated ones.
It also has 2 finger scrolling
With two-finger scrolling, the trackpad becomes a fast track to wherever you want to go. And if you come from a right-click world, it's easy to make the MacBook fit in your comfort zone. There are shortcuts for right-click functionality, forward delete, and more.
Mac OSX Leopard
With Mac OSX Leopard, the MacBook can do "virtually" anything possible. With new features such as Time Machine, you definatly can not go wrong with the latest version of Mac OSX.
Cons:
The Macbook seems to look light but isn't. The MacBook is quite heavy, 1 or 2 pounds at the most. The MacBook has an alternative if you want a lighter notebook, the MacBook Pro.
Another thing is the RAM... thats right, the RAM appears to be a little slow at times. Also, when you put the Mac on sleep for too long, it might log you off, not save any changes, and lose a very important business assignment that is due the next day. Uh-oh..
The MacBook has too many ports... sometimes you could get confused with the Ethernet and the Firewire USB 2.0 ports if you don't know much about the MacBook and Computers in general.
So, the MacBook is an amazing feat, lots of pros, but at the same time, some cons. Just remember what I have said about the MacBook, fast, powerful, has a lot of space, portable, but has little RAM. But as I said... I have one and I make use of it to the last Giga-Byte.
