Most of the country sat down in front of their televisions every Thursday night to watch the Seinfeld show. Seinfeld was the most popular show on TV for the better part of five years. Funny, considering the main tag line for the show was "the show about nothing". I am sure there are many arguments that can be made (even from me) for why Jerry Seinfeld should star in another sitcom, but the cons far outweigh the pros. While there are several reasons Jerry Seinfeld should not do another sitcom, here are my top five.
Much better writer then actor - Lets all be honest here, while I liked Seinfeld as much as the next person, Jerry Seinfeld did not exactly bring acting chops to the table. For the most part the acting chops were brought on by Jason Richards, who played George Costanza in the series. While Seinfeld was entertaining and fun to watch on screen, he was also the head writer of the show. By being the head writer he wrote to his strengths and therefore maximized his talent. With the show being wildly successful he had no NBC executives telling him he could not write the way he wanted to. Unless he was the head writer on his next sitcom I don't see how he would be able to sell himself to the audience.
Stereotyped or typecast - You turn on your television one evening and you happen to see Jerry Seinfeld starring in a new sitcom on one of the big networks. You get a knot in your stomach, grow excited, and anxiously await the show to air. Finally the shows pilot episode airs and no matter what the content is about or how funny it is, you can't seem to shake the whole Seinfeld aura. You can't help wondering where George, Elain, or Kramer are. The only way you can see Jerry Seinfeld is with his three loser friends living a life of nothingness in New York City. Jerry Seinfeld has been typecast in my opinion. This is nothing new to actors; it is an age old story. One of the most popular characters to ever be created, (movie or TV) was Luke Skywalker. The actor who played him was Mark Hamill, yet when the Star Wars saga was over the actor could not find an ounce of work anywhere.
Has more money then he will ever need - Put your self in Jerry Seinfeld's shoes. You were head writer and star of one of the most popular TV shows ever created. You play too sold out stand up shows around the nation, whenever and wherever you decide to tour. You have a wife, a child, and all the things you have ever wanted (cars, houses, money, etc). Besides being on an ego trip, why would
