Dribbly sweet potatoes are in my hair and ears,
Creeping up my nostrils, some getting inside
My mouth. But mostly reaching my stomach by osmosis.
Wax is dripping all over my Little Mermaid cake,
Waiting for me to spit all over it
And blow all the candles out.
Cheap hamburgers and my first date is sitting there
Staring at the lettuce I just know is betraying me,
Hanging like Tarzan vines out of my teeth.
I can't pronounce what I just put in my mouth,
But I'm finally wearing that Cinderella dress
With hopes of a coronation before midnight.
In the back yard, Dad's famous grilled hot dogs,
I stuff in my face, sitting on the grass and laughing
Under the "Congratulations Graduate!" banner.
He stuffed the white cake in my mouth
And put a dollop on my nose for good measure
Making everyone cheer and flash their cameras.
Crunching M&Ms thoughtfully today
And realizing how many events in my life
All involved being "fed up."

I'm tired of grumpy people
and all the slow moving trains
