Have a Drink in Scottsdale

Scottsdale is filled with bars of all types and styles. Whether you like sophisticated, high-style or casual western surroundings, here are several choices for you to choose from.

Lobby Bar
Hyatt Regency Gainey Ranch
7500 E. Doubletree Ranch Road, Scottsdale
Phone: 480-444-1234
http://scottsdale.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels /index.jsp

Lobby Bar generally caters to the over 40, up-market and sophisticated crowd-the sort who stay at the Hyatt Regency, although by no means do you need to be a guest to go there. Dress is business casual. There are some wonderful places to sit out on the patio to relax, enjoy the scenery, and do some people watching. The Hyatt Hotel grounds are spectacular in themselves.

The Jade Bar at Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain
5700 East McDonald Drive, Paradise Valley
Phone: 480.948.2100
http://www.sanctuaryoncamelback.com/cont ent/jadebar.html

The Jade Bar is for the 21 and over up-market and sophisticated set. The Sanctuary is a world-class resort, and the clientele match. Enjoy beautiful views of the desert from this bar, which sits right on the side of Camelback Mountain. Although it is not technically in Scottsdale, it is just over the "border" in Paradise Valley.

Canal
7144 E. Stetson Dr.
Scottsdale
Phone: 480-949-9000
http://canalaz.com

Downtown Scottsdale has been developed and the area just south of Scottsdale's largest and most up-market shopping centers "Fashion Square" now contains many of the most popular and hippest restaurants in Scottsdale. Canal is one of them. It is very new, but I have high hopes it will be around for a long time. During early evening it caters to 30 and over crowd for dinner, and after 10 pm it is filled with the 21-35 age range of the "beautiful people." Dress code is dressy and ultra-hip.

Fox Sports Grill
The Promenade in Scottsdale
16203 N Scottsdale Rd, Scottsdale
Phone: 480-368-0369
http://www.foxsportsgrill.com/scottsdale /

Fox Sports Grill has a great sports atmosphere, populated with everyone from 21 and over (typically closer to 21 than, say, 60). There are televisions all through the bar, all of which are, of course, tuned into sports. It is a fun place with a lively ambience for any sports lover, not just men! There are plenty of women here, too. They also have a restaurant that is open for family dining.

Greasewood Flat
480-585-7277
27500 N. Alma School
Scottsdale, AZ
http://www.greasewoodflat.net/

Head 'em up and head 'em out to Greasewood Flat For a true cowboy bar experience, reminiscent of Urban Cowboy. Whether you are old enough to remember that movie or just barely of drinking age, you'll have a great time! Dress is western, although you can get away with casual jeans. They serve casual western food and play live western music outside, where you can enjoy the night air while you dance.
