The arguments seem to be about the same things, on both sides. "Yes", because look at history, and "no" because the law states the definition of marriage. What will be the outcome? The California Supreme Court proved it, just as history proves it, being gay is just simply a different type of person. The truth is something no one can put a law on. We are all just people. When we outlaw a certain kind of person because they are different, does not seem to work forever, nor should it.

Why was this country formed again? I tend to forget because of institutions that seem to tell us what is right or wrong, how to live, and in this case how to marry. I was taught to think for myself, do not judge a book by its cover, work hard, and learn from your mistakes. I am an American. I love my country, and how it was built on these ideals. There are many things that are corrupt these days, but being gay and wanting to get married is not one of them.

Here is one scenario. A man comes home, drunk. This seems to happen a lot. He beats on his wife. There are many reasons why men do this. May be he just needs help mentally. Many men tend to self-medicate instead of receiving help because, well he is a man, and that is a sign of weakness (one thought in their mind). Another reason may be that is how he learned to treat women. Something has been suggested and looked into: He has a hard time coping with the fact that he may be gay. He has been taught in life that being gay is illegal morally speaking. This may be far fetched, but a possible reason.

Another scenario. A woman marries a man. They have kids. Unhappy in her marriage (not because the man is a bad husband), she continuously has affairs, some of them with the same sex. This is found out by the husband and they get a divorce. Hurtful for all, but mostly, for the kids.

These people made bad choices. Beating women is wrong, having affairs are wrong. That is not where their choices started out being wrong. Their choice to not be who they are was wrong. I am not stating that all men who beat their wives are gay, nor am I stating that women who cheat are lesbians. I am also not stating that legalizing gay marriage will weed out some of these individuals from these situations.

What I am trying to prove is that history does repeat its self, fighting the inevitable just creates monsters, and laws are not made to be broken; just changed to fit reality.
