My most humorous gardening (mis)adventure

An ideal day for gardening. I threw myself together in an attempt to make it to the market in time to purchase a few flats of flowers. With hair disheveled and two small children in tow, I made it just in time. I purchased a lovely array of pansies, gardenias, and geraniums. As we made our way back to the car I realized I would probably need some more topsoil to mix with the mulch I had purchased. I decided to take a quick trip over to the local nursery in town.

After surviving the Saturday morning crowd I packed the kids back into the car and headed for home. As I thought of how beautiful my front garden was going to look I began hearing the sounds of "I'm hungry, I'm thirsty, stop touching me." Then reality set in and I realized I was going to have to fix lunch before I could venture out into the garden. We finally arrived home and I began unloading my wonderful array of flowers and supplies, among children and the phone rings. I rush into the house only to discover its my mother-in-law with the local weather forecast! She say, "I just wanted to let you know where expecting heavy rain this afternoon in case you had any plans." I just did the usual "uh huh". She's my mother in law for goodness sake not a meteorologist.

After I hung up the phone I fixed a quick lunch and headed outside. I began gardening around one o'clock in the afternoon with the help of my little ones of course. We were having a grand time digging and planting. Just as we were putting the last flower in the ground it began to sprinkle. I didn't even get the words "lets clean up" out when sheets of rain began to pour down on us. I managed to get the kids into the house and dry them off. As I passed the window to my kitchen, I could see all the flowers we just planted washing right out of the garden and on to our neighbors front lawn!

Apparently my mother in law is a meteorologist or at least watches the local weather forecast. Anyways, about two hours later the sun was shining and I was out there at it again. Suddenly another interruption. A little voice from out of the screen door says, "Mommy, maybe we should plant them flowers in Bob's garden since they swam over to his house."
