Clown's Compass
Don't ask how you got here
None of your stories are true
The wind has blown every direction
Your fateful companion is fear
Consulting fools with no places to be
Getting all the right answers
To all the wrong questions
And wondering why you can't see
You mastered the art of trying
To see through the eyes of a stranger
Yes, that's what you look like
No wonder you feel like crying
So proud to be free on your own
But you're just chasing dreams
Hoping to borrow one more tomorrow
Down to a handful of seeds unsown
Get on with whatever circus is going
Before it goes on by without you
You might not be taming the lions
But a clown is no fool if he's growing

When I lay down to sleep at night
An evil thought goes through my head

waiting for the phone to ring, ready to die.
The stomach tosses and turns
Where is this place called Dignity
Where is this place called dignity?
There was a time I thought I knew
with certainty,
yet
