Cell Phones Are Everywhere
Yeah they are and in many places where they should not be used at all.
Don't you just hate it when you are at the movies, a play, a restaurant, etc. and someone near you is yakking away preventing you from enjoying your night out?
Your life at risk... Don't you hate those who insist on using their cell phones while driving? They may think they are multi-tasking, but what they are doing is playing Russian Roulette with their lives and yours.
Then there are the dummies, who while driving decide to finish their grooming. Putting on makeup, combing the hair, etc. What happened to finishing your dressing at home?
The attention paid to the cell phone takes the attention off the road, and accidents happen.
I'm not against cell phones, (although I don't have one) they are useful but in the right place and at the right times.
I've tried using a cell phone and find it a frustration experience...
Too many buttons, why so many and are they really necessary?
The phone is too small, the buttons tiny and both are impossible to use.
And this leads too not being able to see what one is doing.
Talk or listen which button does what? Fat fingers versus skinny fingers, a big problem.
I was doing some surfing on the net the other day and ran across an interesting cell phone concept... A one button cell phone! Gosh, I could use one of those! A portable cell phone with only "one button?" Terrific!
It seems, Clayton Communications, Inc. Has introduced a one button GPS cell phone for seniors named "Safeguardian." The user carries the cell phone wherever he goes, and if help is needed, he/she presses the big red button and the phone is answered immediately (24/7). The "Personal Assistant" can contact the police, fire, paramedics or roadside help. Since the cell phone is "GPS-enabled" weather permitting the locator can pinpoint ones location to just a few feet.
The "Safe-Guardian has more than just emergency service, it can also connect the user to phones world-wide, supply one with important information. Driving directions, business phone numbers and locations, plus hospital, doctor, restaurant, hotel, gas stations, etc. It even has an alarm system.
The phone is lightweight, small, 5"x1" and uses lithium batteries, you do not have to charge it and the batteries can last for several months.
The current price is $199.00 and the monthly service charge is $34,95. Non-emergency calls are 1.25 per minute. Emergency calls are free. The Safe Guardian will work anywhere an analog cellular service is available.
I would find this phone more useful than the LifeLine that one wears around ones neck. The response would pinpoint ones location whereas LifeLine works in the home. The gadget around the neck does not allow one to answer the responder when one is out of the house, and anywhere else.
I'm passing along the information about the phone as a public service item.
