The granting of legal status to gay and lesbian couples by some states through "civil unions" was an enormous concession to the gay community. Acknowledging their status as a "married couple" through legalized marriage, however, is completely absurd. It violates every tenet of the very definition of marriage. A union between a man and a woman, not a man and a man, a woman and a woman, a person and a person, or a human being and a human being. That's right, a man and a woman, exclusively. Two human beings who are capable of procreating and hopefully raising their children to continue in the same tradition, if that is their choice, when they become adults. It is the way of life that will preserve the future of our country.

For the California Supreme Court to rule otherwise required a suspension of all reasonable thought in order to arrive at their decision. It was a gigantic blunder. Most importantly, the arrogant justices ruled against the wishes of a majority of Californians, and to what purpose? So they could pander to the residents of San Francisco and other heavily gay communities within the state? It makes no sense whatsoever to believe that simply by saying that two members of the same sex can be a married couple, and ruling it as a matter of law, that they will, in fact, be a married couple. You can dress up a man in a chicken costume and say that he is now a chicken, but he's not. He's just a man in a chicken suit. At best, he's a team mascot, but he will never be a chicken.

The California courts have developed a long-standing tradition of making themselves look like fools. The Supreme Court justices have followed suit, and they look like the biggest fools of all. They have given in to the loudest, the noisiest and most demanding among the gay community and their many politically correct supporters, mostly from the political far left. If there are enough Americans left with all of their senses intact, then they will stand against this outrageous decision. If it is permitted to stand, it will do more to unravel the fabric of our society than any other single event in our nation's history, all as the result of a few morons on the California Supreme Court bench. Yes, morons. What other explanation could there be?

This goes way beyond "live and let live", "to each his own", or "I'm okay, you're okay". It has nothing whatsoever to do with treating all people as equals, or having respect for the human dignity and rights of others. It is a right that does not exist, and should not exist. "Gay" marriage is a misnomer, because it is not a marriage at all. Some sensible gays agree, and think that it is ridiculous for men to marry other men, and likewise for women.

Hopefully, the majority of Californians will make their voices heard at the ballots in November, and let the Supreme Court justices know just how wrong-headed they have been. With a little luck and some backbone from our congressional leaders, a constitutional amendment will follow, banning all gay marriage in the United States and putting this nonsense to rest once and for all.
