from my sight, then I confirmed, you were right, I thought it was an exaggeration.
I'm the type of person who lets things get under my skin, I'll replay the incident over and over in my mind. I didn't do anything to deserve her rude treatment, it was unfair for her to be ill mannered to me, especially on my first day. She had to know I was new, but it didn't mattter she just went on her rude way. Later, I learned she had seniority for her years of dedication. I guess her status gives her the idea she can take it upon herself to behave as she desired.
The next day I was determined to get her to speak to me. Like a rewinded movie she had steam coming out of nose and ears, bearing down the aisle, her eyes wicked and wearing death for a face. It seemed as if she sucked away the life of anyone caught in her path, she represented doom and gloom. Surely she was clearly aware of her negative effect, I wondered if she cared.
She threw the merchandise on the counter, a few items fell to the floor, she didn't pick them up. I said, hello how are you today? I waited for a response, instead I got a blank stare from piercing eyes begrudging my presence. She glared at me like I'd done something wrong. I felt as if she silently devised an incantation in her mind to put a curse on me because I was out of line, perhaps I wasn't to speak unless spoken to...it was weird and unsettling.
This encounter didn't bother as much because it was expected. I despise rudeness, now I'm in the mist of it, approached by it, work related to it, had to put up with it. Weeks passed by without an end in sight of the appreciated by attentance, rude and negative person. She was under constan complaint by several employees, yet no action was taken against her.
I often wondered if anyone ever tried to befriend her or take the extra step needed to defuse the situation. I wondered if a deeper, more personal reason triggered her behavior. The rumor itself could be the culprit, rumors don't always remain unheard by the victim of it. She probably knew what was said about her and in retaliation, is reacting in accordance to her accusers.
On one particular day I decided to go to her counter and retrieve the merchandise. I hoped she would accept my gesture. I said, I came to get the items left over here, where are they? She looked completely surprised, even shocked. She pointed to an area behind her counter and said, over there in that pile with all the other items I have to return. I looked at the massive pile
