The sun shining in the sky
Scorching my pale skin
Raising steam from the cement sidewalks
So hot, you could fry an egg
They would say
I keep saying
I'm going to get out of this town
Away from the heat
The heat, that endless heat of the summer
I'm going to go where it's cool
Where it's fresh
Where it snows, perhaps
I'll take the rain
I'll take the hail
I'll take the wind and the sleet
Just no more of this heat
No more of the sun shining in the sky
Blistering, fiery heat
No more, no more
Is that too much to ask for?
