Sunriver Offers Up Summer Fun

From music to sporting events to breakfast on the fly, Sunriver is the place to come for summer fun. Take a look at what's happening this summer.

JUNE

Kids Fishing Day is an open invitation for children ages 1-14 to reel in some fun. Sponsored by the Sunriver Angler's Club, this event is part of Oregon's Free Fishing Weekend. The fun includes spin and fly fishing lessons, knot tying, Gyotaku fish printing, Tina the Talking Trout, an aquatic animal display, and of course free fishing.

When: Saturday June 7, 2008
Where: The Great Hall at Sunriver Resort.
Time: 9:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M.

The Wildflower Show at Sunriver Nature Center is three days of blooming good fun. The event will showcase over 100 varieties of native wildflowers specifically chosen by a panel of seasoned naturalists. There will also be wildflowers, seeds, and gardening books and tools for sale.

The Pacific Crest Sports Festival offers athletes from across the Northwest and across the world three days of running and funning. The competition includes the Half Iron Triathlon, Endurance Duathlon, Marathon, Half Marathon, Olympic Distance Triathlon and Duathlon, 5K and 10K Run/Walks, and a children's Half Mile and One Mile Dash, and a Splash, Pedal, & Dash Triathlon. In addition, on Saturday evening festival goers will be treated to the sounds of the 50's and 60's by Johnny Limbo and the Lugnuts.

JULY

The Fly-In Pancake Breakfast is one of the most popular events in Sunriver. The day starts with a scrumptious breakfast and is followed by airplane and glider rides, a raffle, and an awe inspiring exhibit featuring new, antique, and experimental aircraft.

Sunriver Sunfest is a chance for 35 wineries from Oregon, Washington, and California to strut their stuff. But this wine festival is more than great grapes. It also features food, arts & crafts, custom jewelry, children's activities, and performances by the Central Oregon Symphony.
