Youtube.com, has been around like forever. Wow, dudes and dudettes, I am talking like this because it really has a lot of people on it under eighteen. Ok, I used to do a television show way back in 1974 called The Uncle Floyd Show. Many years passed since I have been in front of the camera but I tell my children all the time about the program I was on, and lets face it, prouder moments have been set, but that was a big deal to me at the time.
Now two of my children are grown and living on their own but I still have one son, 14 years of age and yes, I tell him about the time I was a television personality. Now, he wakes me up at all hours with a cam corder in my face. He yells, action, and I start to improve stuff either in the bed or standing up by the bed.
i never thought for a second that my kid, who never once let me comb my hair, or wipe the sleep from my eyes, would be putting this stuff up on youtube. He bills it as "The Caterino 60 Second show. Eleven episodes were created, and all eleven posted on youtube.com.
Ok, I let it go at that. These were supposed to be private moments for home use but now I can be found on twenty sites all over the web. The eleven episodes can also be found on itunes. I am thinking of doing a professional show, written and produced, not scattered brained improves, for youtube. It is crazy that all my silly improves are becoming sort of a cult following but hey, thats show biz.
So putting funny home clips or amazing kind of clips, animals or family members doing crazy things, I would think is ok to do but, hurtful things I would never approve of. Making someone look like a fool to me is hurtful. If they do it them selves as I did, then it is ok. I have seen tragedy put up on that site and this is not fair to the person or persons involved. The "Look at them, they are stupid" attitude is just not the right thing to do, and as I said before, if the person themselves put it up then it is all good. I am glad to see that youtube has the sense to censor their clips. Mature themes are blocked and accessed for only people that feel the need to see those sort of things. The nutshell is, if you create something yourself and the people involved, agree it can be used on the tube, then go for it. I love the fact that I can see things on that site, I havent seen since I was a kid. Those memories are so wonderful to see again.
showing drunks, fights, and beatings should be banned from the tube. This is just how I feel, these to me are sad moments not funny, although, some might agree that the Caterino 60 second show should also be banned or at least rated "O" for overrated.
