My name is Johnny. I was five years old when my two mommies adopted me. My mom's name is Mary and my other mom's name is Sue. They shared the responsibility of taking care of me. They signed me up for soccer and ballet.
My mom, Mary, started going to the doctor a lot. When I asked her if she was sick, she told me, "no," she's just making a change in her life. After awhile, mommy did start to change. Her voice grew deeper and whiskers started growing out of her chin. Then she went to the hospital for an operation, and when she came home, my two mommies sat me down and explained to me that my mom, Mary is now a man, and has changed her name to Larry.
"Does that mean Mary is my daddy?" I ask.
"Yes," they answered. "You don't have two mommies any more, you now have a mommy and a daddy."
When I was seven years old, my mom and dad started to argue a lot. One day, when I got home from school, they sat me down and told me they were getting a divorce. I was very sad.
Then, one day, my dad picked me up from ballet with a lady. She came to all my recitals, and they spent a lot of time together. Pretty soon, they got married. They asked me to be the flower boy at the wedding.
Now I have a daddy that used to be my mommy, a new stepmother, and my mother named Sue.
A few months later, when my mother named Sue picked me up from soccer practice, she was with another woman. She brought her to all my games. They later told me they were getting married and I would have a new stepmother. I was the flower boy at their wedding, too.
Now, I have a daddy, who used to be my mommy, a new stepmother, my mommy, Sue and another new stepmother.
By the time I was in Junior High School, my dad that used to be my mom divorced his wife and decided he preferred men. He moved his new boyfriend, Allen, into the house. Then they got married. My dad wore a gown and I was the bride's maid man.
Now I have a dad that used to be my mom that acts like a mom, but looks like a dad, and is married to my new step dad.
My mom named Sue, decided to go straight, divorced my stepmother and found a man. They got married. I was the groom's man at her wedding.
After all is said and done, I now have one mother, a dad that acts like a mom and two stepfathers.
When I grow up I wonder what choices I'll make. Will I marry a woman or a man? Or a woman that wants to be a man, or a man that wants to be a woman? Do I want to be a man or a woman? Will I prefer ballet or soccer? I sure do have a lot to think about.
