Amy Winehouse: Music genius or waste of space.
She has 4 Grammies a Brit and numerous other awards and no doubt ably a magnificent voice, but is Amy Winehouse heading for being Britons best singer or another heroin addict found in the gutter.
At just 24 she has been arrested several times, caught taking class A drugs and always seems out of her head, But has it all gone to far? Her career seems to be suffering drastically, and her life style is getting out of control. More and more often we are seeing videos and pictures of her strange life across the newspapers instead of credibility for her music.
But why is Amy doing this to herself? She's not had the best life growing up, with her parents getting divorced and having her heart broken but who hasn't experienced pain before. And not all of us turn to drugs and booze to get through it. But maybe we don't all have the temptation around us, being in the music industry is hard enough but when you have an even easier access to drugs and a motive to use them, then its no wonder some of our most talented stars get dragged in to the disturbing and life destroying world of addiction.
Amy gets enough publicity that she needs for a lasting career but for all the wrong reasons. I can't remember the last time I heard a good thing said about the star, instead you just hear people criticizing her and bringing her down, including Mark Ronson who has recently announced they won't be finishing the 007 theme tune as she's "not ready to work on music yet." This must be a real kick in the teeth for Amy as this would have been an opportunity of a life time. And how many more amazing missed opportunities is it going to take for her to realise she is wasting her life for drugs.
Maybe Amy has a plan; she seems to only write songs about the pain and misery she has gone through but is she deliberately hitting the self destruct button so she can make more music. She is after all getting more publicity now that she's been associated with drugs, than when she had a clean cut image.
I personally really like the talented singer and enjoy her music, I feel she is a kind but impressionable person that has just got caught up in the fame and fortune of being a young star in today's world. But I think its time she got her act together, cleaned up and carried on writing the amazing music she sings, and I hope in the next few years that she will become an inspiring role model for all the right reasons.
