When it comes to YouTube.com. It is one of the best sites that anyone could download videos, or search for movie clips (and or trailers) in general. People can create anything they want with it.. Although that draws some controversy along the way..
The web-site was created around 2005 by former Pay Pal employees. Their headquarters is based in San Bruno, California. What makes it so popular is that it allows its members to broadcast a wide variety of videos by using Adobe Flash technology for viewing pleasure. The site is not profitable, and its estimated the bandwidth costs are about $1 million a day. Since 2007, it was estimated that YouTube covered as much bandwidth as the Internet had since 2000. Today, YouTube has 3 billion videos watched by 79 million people everyday.
Videos on Youtube range from 10 hours that are uploaded every minute. They cover topics like news reels, home videos, movie & trailer clips, etc. The list goes on. I became fascinated in YouTube around 2007. After Richard Donner's cut of "Superman II" came out, many fans who disliked it began posting their "own cuts" of the film. Many of whom became "YouTube Celebrities." Like the former member Selutron who's "cut" has been very praised amongst fans. However, this creates controversy as well because you are asking yourself what is the "Ultimate Cut"? Why is there not a movie version released that should follow under the same copyright law as everything else?
This has not just been directed at Superman films, but other movies as well. Everywhere you look on YouTube, you find members creating their own music vides of films, altering scenes of movies you like, or using clips as an excuse to make any kind of statement. Either personal or political. Though in today's society, it might be more of an accepted idea of editing videos to coincide with your point of view. You have to ask yourself, if you are so fancy with it, then why don't you make a career out of it. A career that pays Do not just practice on YouTube, go to Hollywood, and major in film editing.
In the old Hollywood Days, film directors like John Ford would have been angry about this. When he directed a film, he was very protective of it. Because if he allowed an editor to mess with the film, it would no longer be his vision. Which has been a controversy of other directors and their films. Does the film completely represent what they intended it to be? Do you really want to give praise to editors who are
