The Internet has opened up a whole new world for people who like to play games and offers a multitude of them, with types to suit all tastes. Many gamers favor "action" games as opposed to board or parlor games, no doubt for the added excitement the derive from them. Who exactly are the typical action game players? It may surprise us to find that action games are played by people of all ages and from both sexes. It cannot be assumed that because someone has left their teenage years behind, that they are no longer interested in the type of action games available online.

That said, the stereotypical action game player is the young male between the ages of fifteen and twenty-five, a group that dominate the action gaming world. This is to be expected as young men are usually more interested in action activities than the girls are and also more inclined to avoid the slow online games that have become the norm for the older generation. If you ever watch competitive online games, the winners are invariably young men from this age group who have spent hours honing their action game skills.

ADDICTED
Gaming was at one time the sole domain of young people, but the upsurge of gaming on the Internet has opened up this new world to people of all ages and situations from adult men at their place of work or adult women bored at home during the day. Although there are definitely more older adults involved in playing action games online, the main group remains the young male who dominates in numbers and in ability. This is understandable when you consider that young people generally have more time to waste on gaming than their parents do.

This freedom from responsibility has resulted in some young people becoming addicted to gaming to such an extent that they miss school or work in order to pursue their addiction. The more time a person spends doing something, the more adept they are likely to become at it. This is true of young men who play action games constantly and who develop a knack for playing the game to a very high standard. Whether they do so for the competition or simply for the fun, these young men will spend their lives trying to better their last attempt.

The Internet has given people the opportunity to play games all day long without leaving their homes or without having to be in the same room as another player. People of all ages and backgrounds can now play games online regardless of their everyday routine. Though it is a provision available to all, action games online continue to be the domain of the younger generation who sadly, do not have the will-power to ensure it does not become a serious addiction.
