wonderful benefits except it never went through that first month. I waited another reasoning it sometimes takes a few weeks to transition but after two months it still failed to go through. I called the institution I receive payments from and they informed me that BOA had for some reason they could not discern blocked the deposit. They said they tried making the deposit three times and all attempts failed. We checked the routing and account numbers and all matched so it was off to the bank again. They assured me it was not their fault, they wanted my money in their bank (All too true I soon found) and they would handle setting the direct deposit personally. Again the next month, and month after that, they failed to get it right. Finally I canceled the request and gave up on that service with them.
In the meantime should I actually have needed to use this account I could write a check except they never issued any aside from three courtesy counter checks. I asked where my checks were and was informed they simply forgot to order them, but they would arrive in one business week as they would request a rush order. This was in December, three months after opening the account. More to follow on this later.
Once my debit card arrived I decided to make use of it to take advantage of the save the change program however I could not enjoy the introductory 100% matching as I had already lapsed beyond the introductory period. I queried if since it had taken so long to get a debit card through no fault of my own if it could have started the day the actual card that was mine was sent, but I was informed this would not be possible. I would enjoy the 5% matching however. I then noticed that no deposit for this program of any percentage showed up on my monthly statement and was informed that they only make a deposit once every twelve months for this program, not month to month. They failed to mention this or provide any literature on it when opening the account.
In the meantime I noticed deductions from my accounts for service fees I was told would not be an issue as I met the minimum deposit amounts even without direct deposit. I was told this was a mistake and the fees were refunded but only after wasting an hour arguing over it. This process repeated itself for four months. At the end of this period I also was debited for a counter credit charge which was odd as I had discontinued using my account there until I had time to go close them. By then I had decided this was not
