This is probably the greatest understatement yet, with the answer being yes, it's not only possible, it is a fact.
The entertainment world goes hand-in-hand with the media, and together they have more control over what society thinks and does than the individuals within it realize. They promote what is beneficial to the holder of the biggest wallet and they don't use any discretion when it comes to promoting their business.
Society is confused and without direction because it has decided that it wants to break away from the image of its predecessors. And because of that it is lured in like a fish on a line, unknowingly waiting to be devoured.
We have been programmed to believe, for example, that we need a new car even though the one we have - and that we've paid for already - is working well. Maybe it's the sexy girl that's driving it or maybe it's just our greed that overtakes us, but we watch the commercial often enough and are convinced that we must keep up with the rest of society and go into debt for something we don't need.
The entertainment world advertises it's latest flick and instructs us to take our kids and have a great time. We're inspired and take our children to see this new star-studded movie of violence and crime, totally convinced that it's a great idea for a family outing.
Meanwhile, the children are struggling through their own dilemmas of violence at school, and we're telling them to not fight back, and then we get upset when the teachers tell us about their aggressive behaviour. It's a double standard because we want to be entertained so we give Hollywood the right to invade our societies with their fictional violence, and then are angered and worried when our children act out these violent behaviours in their schools.
Hollywood celebrities get honoured for their charitable concerns over children in the third world, and we praise them for being so wonderful. We're convinced to support their efforts because it's a notable thing to do.
Yet, we have thousands of people in need in our own communities and we do nothing because there's no recognition in helping neighbours or giving to families in our own societies. We may be aware of it, but society wants to keep up with the stars and so that's what we do.
Society is gravely confused. Part of it still wants the peace and serenity of the good old days when families were one mom, one dad, the kids and the family pet. They didn't need to lock their doors and children were taught to say hello to strangers on the street.
And even though those times were precious and we want them back, we continue to promote today's society lifestyles. We advertise clothing for young girls that is seductive and reveals far too much and yet, we are stumped when they play around with sex. Our boys wear offensive clothing that promotes snakes, skulls and death and we're concerned that there's no peace in them.
Society gave up its own right to think because it wants a change. And now we have a society where most of its members no longer live by the golden rule, although they preach it and expect it. We want our children to be a generation of knowledge, grace and understanding, but we don't give them an example to follow.
Why? Because society wants to be a community of people who support each other and yet at the same time, it gives the media and entertainment world the right to invade our homes, take control and influence, encourage and support just the opposite.
