Testimonies: Positive birth stories

It was July 4th when I found out that I was pregnant. Although the relationship that I was in ended shortly after, I would have to say that my pregnancy was great! It seemed to go by so fast and I can remember sitting at my office desk watching the baby moving around inside of me. I had a dream one night that I was brushing a little girl's long brown curly hair and putting it up in a ponytail. I knew from that point on I was going to have a little girl. A few weeks later the doctor confirmed it for me.

I was due on March 8th (I insisted that the doctors were off by a few weeks though). On my last doctors visit, on February 17th, he talked about inducing labor if I didn't have the baby by February 23rd since I was measuring at 40 weeks already. Now, I really didn't want them to induce labor. I would much rather have it happen naturally. Plus I had heard too many stories about how painful the contractions are when they induce labor and I wanted to do everything possible to stay away from pain. Could you blame me?

It was 421am on February 23rd when I woke up to a contraction. I had been having contractions for the last week, but it was nothing compared to this. I started timing them to see how close they were. My mom was already awake because she was taking my Aunt to the airport that morning. Of course my Aunt was upset that she was leaving and NOW I was having the baby. The contractions were 15 minutes apart so I figured that I had plenty of time for a shower while my mom took her sister to the airport.

Once my mom got back home she called the doctor for me and we headed out for the hospital. I joked with my doctor, telling him "I won't be able to make my appointment with you at 3 today". He just smiled at me! So there I was laying in the hospital bed just waiting. They had a rocking chair in the room for me too this way I didn't have to just sit there. My mom and I were watching tv and then we started to walk the hallways a little, I heard that it helped bring the contractions on the more you move.

That's when my phone rang. It was my Dad! He had called to see how I was doing. I guess sitting at home he was getting worried, I mean after all, I was his little girl about to have a little girl of my own. I could hear his voice getting quite and I remember saying "Dad, are you still there?" He was crying! His emotions were probably going crazy. We told him that we would call him once I got closer because there was no reason
