Poetry: Love at first sight

I never believed in "love at first sight,"
But this is as close as it gets.
I always dreamed of my own Mr. Right,
Even when my life felt like the pits.
I cried and I prayed and I did everything!
Sometimes I just tried to see
Why I was the cupid with the broken wing
Cause there was nobody for me.
I helped get together some of my friends
Like an arrow that's straight through the heart.
I thought, "I guess my love life just depends
On if I can get a fresh start."
I thought I could leave and go far, far away
Where no one has ever known me,
But after that moment on that special day
I thought what a waste that would be!
Everyone needs someone, even the cupid
Who tried to help love lives to grow.
I never knew how I could be that plain stupid;
I'm glad I will never know
Cause even a lonely girl like me
Needs someone to help them along.
I'm thankful that someone reached out and helped me
And kept me from going so wrong.
I think of my past, and I try to forget
Cause I love what you're doing for me.
I think of that moment, the time that we met
And I have to say now I believe.
