There used to be a superstition in which one did not kiss on the first date, that the anticipation of waiting makes the kiss that much more sweeter, after all you cannot get back that first kiss.
In more ways than one this holds true to going between the sheets on the first date, perhaps one has been watching too much Desperate Housewives to think it was a good idea, even though the majority of what one knows about the person he or she is dating is only from that one date. In the history of first dates there are only a handful in which one knows pretty much all there is to know about the person they are dating, and even couples who have been married 50 years often discover something new in their partner.

A relationship is a personal craft, much like cooking is to a chief, you don't just crack an egg and call it an omlete there are stages first. First you must crack the egg, in other words crack the surface. If one were to think of dating as stages the first date is what I would like to call the "getting to know you stage" in which you and your partner are getting to do that know eachother. In this stage going between the sheets is way too soon, much like your first kiss the first time you and your partner do go between the sheets is something you can never take back and to do so on the first date, robs one of something personal at a time where one does not know if the person he or she is seeing is the person they want to spend the rest of their life with, which is hard to do on the first date in which one is first trying to break the ice to see if eachother likes the same latte, or just trying to have a conversation.

What is causing us to be in such a hurry to have that first kiss or conoodle on the first date? Perhaps it is the world in which we are living. The world now is a fast paced race, in which the Indy 500 is the tortose compared to hares around the world, we want everything to be instant. Instant news, instant coffee, and even instant romance is in demend, we must have things right now, and only now even in the bedroom, and yet much like a musical compostion a relationship does not begin on the first note, there must be a second and a third until the notes mesh well together to form a song and once the song is finished only than you have it published.

Though in the end personal choices are that...personal.
One must consider in this fast paced world whether there are certain things that are worth waiting for, after all in the road of life there is no such thing as a reset button and in the world of relationships the tortoses often beat the hares and often find the experience with their partners much more rewarding.
