Oh how one's heart
may yearn for the love of one
Grasping
at any shallow thread of attention
thrown their way
Hanging on
like a child on it's mother's arms,
to that lingering smile from a passerby
Hungering
for a taste of more conversation
when a stranger says hello
Thirsting
for a drink from a lover's soul
that they might call them their own
Oh the longing...
the longing...
Breathing in
to ease the pain
of their heart's yearning
