Outdoor activities in Naples, Florida

Top 5 Outdoor Activities in Naples Florida

#1: Boat and Airboat Tours
The Naples area offers many types of boat tours, ranging from freshwater to saltwater tours. The Gulf of Mexico has created many small islands off the coast, and one of my favorite boat tours allows you to tour from island to island looking at each ones uniqueness. In the nearby Florida Everglades, you can also hitch a ride on one of the many airboat tours which allows you to tour though areas to see these amazing wetlands up close and personal. Bringing sun block, sunshades and a hat are encouraged as the sun can be relentless most days of the year. But these tours are certainly worth it.

#2: Beaches
With Naples located right on the Gulf of Mexico, it is a great spot to find the best beaches. With sugar white sand and breath taking views, the beaches of Naples are certain to be a vacation in its own. Numerous access points, ranging from desolate beaches, to ones with complete facilities, picnic tables, and beachside restaurants, allow you to certainly get what you want out of your trip. And make sure to check out the beaches for some of their lovely shells and my favorite; sand dollars. But please remember to check each shell to be sure that there is no creature still living inside of it, as taking live shells is illegal without a permit.

#3: Fishing
With so much water surrounding Naples, it certainly provides a fisherman's paradise. Freshwater fishing and saltwater fishing are both permitted. You can rent a boat, or you can hire a guide to take you through the many estuaries. Snook, redfish, grouper, snapper, mackerel, and bass, are just a few of the many different types of fish you are likely to catch. But remember to get a permit before fishing. These can be found at most bait and equipment stores.

#4: Nature Walks
Take a trip through natural Florida by going on one of the many nature walks located throughout Naples. With walks through mangrove, cypress, and swamp areas, you'll be sure to see some authentic Florida native plants and animals. Many walks are wooden platforms that wind and tangle through these swamplands, so that you can see firsthand the natural beauty of Florida. But be sure to bring some mosquito repellent as these areas have many due to the fact that it is wetlands.

#5 Parks
Naples has many national, state, local, and private parks and preserves that offer a great atmosphere for the whole family. Depending on the park, you have a range of biking, fishing, hiking, kayaking, and photography trails that allow you to personally take in the beauty that is Florida. Each park has its own advantages, which allows you to choose which park is right for your whole family.
