OK - pack the car, get the kids, jump in - we are off for a family vacation to Big Bear Lake; the perfect vacation spot for the whole family - year around. Located in California - o'boy - I can't wait until we get there!
There are cabins, mountain resorts, and homes to rent but this year we are renting a cabin because we are taking all the cats and these cabins are "pet friendly"! Yes, all three of the cats are coming with us - what fun we are going to have. Do we have the kitty litter boxes, kitty food bowls, and yes - do we have the cats?
This is the perfect time of the year - the woods are springing to life - breathe deep and smell the crisp cool air. The spring foliage is coming alive!
Here is our cabin - rustic like something out of the Wild West. Unload the car, don't lose the cats, get the kitty litter boxes and cat food. Wow, I am already bushed and we just got here.
I know - let's go up to the Moonridge Zoo and feed the animals. We can follow one of the zoo attendants around while he feeds them and then visit the petting zoo. Do we have the money? Let's see - we need to look at the website at Moonridge Zoo to get the information. Ok, here it is - Adults $7.00 and kids 3-10 are $3.00 - ok, we are off.
Ok kids - tell me what you know about Big Bear Lake. That's right, it is located in the San Bernardino Mountains and surrounded by a National Forest. After the zoo, we should go into Big Bear Lake Village and eat at that Mexican Restaurant that we ate at last year - what was the name - wait, I remember - Aztec Grill Restaurant. I will call ahead for reservations here is the number 909-866-2350.
That takes care of today, lets plan for tomorrow. Let's do something unique and fun! I have it - let's go over to the Baldwin Lake Stables and take a horseback ride. It will only take 2 hours, so we don't have to leave too early in the morning. We can go on the historic Pacific Crest Trail. We need to call ahead and tell them we are coming and that we want sack lunches. The number is 909-585-6482.
After that, we can spend the rest of the afternoon at the Big Bear Lake Museum in the village. And after that we can go shopping at all the little shops near there. We can go to the Bear Mountain Trading Post, but we need to call for the hours. The number is 909-585-9676.
For our last day here, Dad is going fishing for the whole day, so Mom and the kids can go to play miniature golf and just relax for the rest of the day.
Wow, what a great vacation this is going to be - I love it here, especially in the spring when everything is coming alive again and it's not too hot or too cold - it's just right.
