Poetry: Challenges in friendship

by Ava St. Clair

Created on: May 27, 2008

You are so hard to figure out
Or understand what you are all about
Just when I think I've got your drift
Your attitude begins to shift

I question if it's you or me
Who is confused and cannot see
The meanings in the words you speak
Comportment that you often repeat

It's hurtful when you change your mind
Push me aside and far behind
For others whom you curtsy to
To please them with the things you do

You said you had saved time for me
To privately share life's pleasantries
You asked what I would like to do
Then changed our plans to something new

Perhaps it is my many sensitivities
That fog my mind and sensibilities
But hurtful feelings cannot be denied
When a friend has been pushed far aside
To ensure your wants are satisfied
